motion control - electromate logoPFL20 is RoHS-compliant, has a 30/60mm effective stroke, and can reach 6 N of force at 200 pps. With 24 steps per revolution, the lead screw has a 1.2mm thread pitch; the PFL20 also reaches 5V rated voltage, resistance of 33 Ohms/phase and inductance of 12mH/phase. The PFL20 is a highly efficient, high thrust tin-can linear actuator with a 20mm diameter and a bipolar winding.

The simple structure of Linearstep motors – just a threaded rotor hub and lead screw – helps to save space and reduce costs, due to fewer components needed compared to systems that convert rotary motion to linear. Linearstep motors are also easy to control, and can be ordered with unipolar or bipolar windings and a variety of usable voltages. In addition to the 20mm motor size, this motor is also available in 25mm (captive or non-captive option) and 35mm diameter sizes.

The motion control SWM24 integrated steppers combine high torque NEMA 24 step motors with a sophisticated, 6.0 A/phase (peak-of-sine) step motor drive. Power to the drive, located at the rear of the motor, must be supplied by an external DC supply. Applied Motion offers compatible 24 and 48 volt DC power supplies for exactly this purpose.

Rotating in proportion to the number of pulses sent to the motor, the stepper motor is frequency synchronized and can change speed depending on the frequency of the pulse signal.

Because of its high torque output and low profile construction, applications for tin-can stepper motors include, but are not limited to, printing, packaging, and medical devices.

PF/PFC series tin-can stepping motors are also available with optional gearheads offering increased torque in a small package. Nippon Pulse geared tin-can stepping motors can achieve up to a 2500mN·m maximum torque.

Medford, MA, Motion Control – Nanotec Electronic, U.S., Inc. has expanded the range of hybrid linear positioning drives by models in a NEMA 8 (20 mm flange size) and NEMA 14 (35 mm flange size). Linear positioning drives include a rotating screw mounted on the stepper motor. The linear movement is generated with the aid of an external nut. These motors are ideal for the design of compact linear axes as there is no need for the coupling and the bearing support point for the screw. The small linear positioning drives are used, for example, for scanning tasks in optical, mechanical or acoustic test equipment.

The hybrid linear positioning drives from Nanotec Electronic use special, maintenance-free thermo-plastic nuts. Despite its small size, the NEMA-8 model LS2018 delivers a force of 40 N and a step resolution of 0.005 mm. The NEMA-14 model LS3518 delivers a force of 140 N and a resolution of 0.01 mm. Standard screw lengths of 75 or 150 mm are available; customer-specific screw lengths can be optionally obtained. Both actuators can also be supplied with high-resolution (2000 incr./rev.) encoders.

Birkerød, Danmark, and Morrow, OH — MIS23 QuickStep stepper motors are a series of versatile, compact, economical integrated stepper motors from JVL. Integrated stepper motors in the MIS23 series have NEMA 23 flange dimensions of 57×57 mm and are available in three models with rated torques of: 1.1 Nm (MIS231), 1.6 Nm (MIS232), 2.5 Nm (MIS234) (1000 RPM @ 48VDC). To reduce cost and protect against electrical noise many of the control and communication functions have been integrated with the motor in a housing designed to provide IP42, IP55 or IP65 protection, and eliminating the need for running control and communication cables. Different PCB’s (modules) can be mounted within the housing to create an automation/motion control system that is easy to incorporate into new and existing applications.

Among the many features that can be integrated are: Pulse/direction driver, serial RS485 position controller with easy graphical programming, point-to-point or multiaxis operation up to 255 axes on the same RS485 bus, CANOpen DS-301 and DSP-402, optional absolute singleturn magnetic encoder with resolution of up to 1024 pulses/revolution for stall detection, 8 I/O that can be configured as input, output or 10bit analogue input, electronic gearing for following an encoder or pulse train in an arbitrarily selectable controlled ratio, high speed position capture.

The MIS23 Series of stepper motors follows the same protocol as MAC motors so that MAC motors and QuickStep motors can be connected to the same RS485 bus, and a double voltage-supply available so that position and parameters are maintained during emergency stop. They also feature: Fixed 1600 pulses/revolution for version with built-in position controller, 200, 400, 800, 1000, or 1600 pulses/revolution for versions with pulse/direction inputs.

All modules are supplied with M12 connectors. MIS23 QuickStep motors require a power supply of 12-48V DC. Backlash-free and planetary gears in different ratios can also be supplied. Additionally the Quickstep series also includes larger versions like the MIS34 (NEMA 34), MIS43 (NEMA 43), and MIS51 (NEMA 51) with even more options, such as Ethernet.
