BURLINGTON, MA — Motion Control – Steinmeyer’s Series of compact linear axis stages for horizontal or vertical applications are equipped with a DC motor, and are easy to integrated into new and existing applications.

This series of robust linear axis stages is characterized by an optimum price-­performance ratio together with precise operating parameters. For this reason, this series of stages is favored for a large variety of applications and is ideal for precise focusing of sensors or optics.

Vertical and horizontal applications

These linear axis stages are equipped with a stepper motor or DC motor and are available in two travel lengths. They are also optionally available with a linear measuring system and can be used in horizontal or vertical applications.

For challenging environments

The LA85 stages are also available in vacuum versions which makes it perfect for applications in challenging environments.

Santa Clarita, CA —– Linear Motion – H2W introduces the LSS-060-04-006-ME linear stepper positioning stage which is part of the LSS series family. This stage has a stroke of 60 in [1500 mm] and generates 6 lbs [26.6 N] of continuous force. It incorporates a 1 micron resolution linear encoder, which when operated under closed loop control, improves system accuracy and repeatability.

This LSS series is a linear stepper positioning stage, which integrates H2W’s linear stepper motor along with a linear encoder. The moving stepper forcer has a lower mass, which makes it ideal for high acceleration applications (0.5 to 1.5 meters per second) with light payloads (less than 1 kg). The linear motion stage can be operated under open loop control using a standard off the shelf two-phase microstepping driver. However, for better performance the stage can be operated under closed-loop using a linear encoder and a state-of-the-art motion control electronics package, available for purchase from H2W, which allows the stepper to be operated as a two-phase brushless linear motor.

Santa Clarita, CA —- – Linear Motion Positioning Stage — This revolutionary new series of single axis linear stepper stages, integrates a linear encoder into the single-axis linear stepper motor stage to operate the linear stepper motor as a 2 phase brushless linear motor, when coupled with state-of-the-art motion control electronics package provided by H2W. This allows H2W’s stage to achieve speeds and accelerations previously unachievable with a linear stepper motor. The stage includes cable carrier to yield high cycle counts, there are also provisions that allow customer cables to be routed within the cable carrier, custom mounting hole on the moving table are available upon request at no additional charge, 1-micron resolution linear encoder, the stepper motor forcer and platen, bearings and a switch for home position, and optional end-of-travel-limits are all integrated into a compact package, and cables are terminated in a standard 9-pin d-sub miniature connector. This linear motion package is low cost, and has a short lead time for custom lengths and/or options.

Dual Axis Linear Steppers feature: Low Profile, Low Cost, and .00004” [1 micron]

Santa Clarita, CA — — Dual Axis Linear Steppers. — H2W Technologies Dual Axis Linear Stepper Motors are ideal for open loop positioning applications with light payloads. They can be used at speeds up to 80 in /sec [2m/sec] and strokes up to 40” x 60” [1 m x 1.5 m]. Linear stepper motors are capable of very precise position, velocity and acceleration control when coupled with a microstepping drive and indexer.

The moving assembly called the “forcer” is supported by magnetically preloaded air-bearings imbedded in the active surface of the forcer between the forcer and platen. The bearings are designed to support the customer’s payload and to maintain the required .001” [0.025 mm] gap between the platen and the forcer.

The two axis step and direction signal from a microstepping drive, to the 2 or 4 phase forcer is supplied via a power cable. The motion achieved with a full step is .010” [250 microns] and with a microstep it’s .00004” [1 micron].

The Dual Axis linear stepper motor is a complete positioning stage with the motor, the bearings and the positioning system all built into one compact package.

Integrating a linear encoder with the stepper motor provides a closed loop system.

The Dual Axis Linear Stepper Motor consists of 2 main parts:

Moving Forcer Assembly: The forcer is made up of an aluminum housing that contains the motor windings, lamination stacks, and permanent magnets. The active surface of the lamination is slotted to form teeth with a pitch of .040″ [1 mm]. The ends of the coil are brought out to either a “D” connector or to flying leads. Mounting holes on the top surface of the forcer are for attaching the customer’s payload. The forcer comes in different widths and lengths, depending on the required force. Multiple forcers can be supplied with a single platen to allow for independent moving heads.

Platen: The platen is a precision ground steel plate that is slotted to form 0.02” x 0.02” [0.50x 0.50 mm] square teeth on the surface. The spaces between the platen teeth are filled with epoxy to provide a flat air-bearing surface for the forcer. The stroke of the forcer is a function of the length and width of the platen. Platens can be manufactured in different shapes with a multitude of mounting configurations.
