Santa Clarita, CA —– Motion Control – The SRT-030/360-026-01 is a two axis X-Theta positioning system ideal for precision motion control applications that require coordinated linear and rotary positioning. The 2 axis system consists of a rotary DC servo motor with encoder mounted to a moving brushless linear motor driven positioning stage.

The linear axis uses an H2W brushless linear motor BLDM-C08 to generate a continuous force of 26 lb [115.5 N] and a peak force of 78 lb [347 N] with a stroke length of 30 in [768 mm]. The non-contact 1 micron resolution linear encoder allows for precise positioning along the linear axis. It is guided by a pair of precision recirculating linear ball bearings.

The rotary axis consists of a standard 34-frame rotary servo motor with a 10,000 counts/rev resolution encoder. The motor can generate a continuous torque of 29 lb-in [3.3 N-m] and a peak torque of 87 lb-in [9.9 N-m]. The rotary axis is removable, which allows for higher accelerations by reducing the moving mass of the linear axis.

The system can be oriented in any orientation. There are also provisions that allow customer cables to be routed within the cable carrier. The system has a reference mark, end of travel limit switches and hard stops.

Each of these motorized XZ-Axis Linear Positioning Stages features 1 micron repeatability and 10 micron positional accuracy. Both the X-axis (horizontal axis) and the Z-axis (vertical axis) have the travel lengths of 15 mm, 30 mm, 50 mm, and 75 mm and even longer to meet your application requirements.

The XZ-Axis linear stages are available with either stepper motors with knobs for manual adjustment which can be replaced with optical encoders for position verification. The stages are also available with servo motors and encoders for closed loop operation and higher operating speeds.

Santa Clarita, CA — Motion Control – H2W Technologies has developed several high torque rotary voice coil actuators, otherwise known as a limited angle torque motors or LATs. The model TWR-034-800-1RC was designed to allow for a relatively low moving mass and inertia, as well as a long rotary stroke of 34 degrees [0.59 radians] on a 11.4” [290 mm] arm, which equates to a travel of 6.75 inches [171.5 mm] which is long travel for this style of actuator, which typically restrained to an equivalent linear travel of 2 inches [50.8 mm]. This rotary voice coil actuator can generate a continuous torque of 1400 in-oz [9.8 N-m] and a peak torque of 4200 in-oz [29 N-m] at a duty cycle of 10% (i.e. 1 second on, and 9 seconds off) in each coil on a 11.4 inch [290 mm] rotation arm.  The TWR-034-800-1RC has a total angular displacement of  34 degrees [0.59 radians] and a motor constant of 275 in-oz/sqrt(watt) [1.92 N-m/sqrt(watt)].

The Voice coil motor requires 1.7 amps of continuous current per coil and 5.1 amps of peak current per coil to generate the specified forces.  The actuator fits in and envelope of 10.26 in [260.5 mm] x 3.01 in[76.4 mm] x 3.39 in [86 mm].  The moving coil design ensures a hysteresis free movement as the coil is wet wound and self-supported, and the non-commutated coil allows for ripple-free motion and no cogging.  The voice coil actuator has been designed with mounting provisions in the magnet and coil assemblies.  This allows for the integration of a bearing system to maintain the clearances between the coil and permanent magnetic field assemblies. The rotary voice coil actuator is ideal for applications requiring high torque and high- speed applications. Examples of such applications are driving a gimbal axis in scanning applications as well as providing stabilizing torques for image stabilization. This compact stage (37mm x 31 mm x 32 mm) weighing just 70 grams features a 5 mm clear aperture through the center of the motor and the friction free, flexure linking system. Non-linearity is <±0.5% throughout the stages 5 mm range of motion. PVS-5.5 Parallelogram Voice Coil Stage is ideal for optical focusing and micropositioning applications such as: Semiconductor, medical, optical testing, scanning microscopy, circuit board assembly, and micro manufacturing.

The PVS-5.5 Parallelogram Voice Coil Stage features a high force, frictionless voice coil motor and infinite life flexure system that provides superior responsiveness and accuracy (positioning resolution 75 nm) over conventional leadscrew or belt drives and produces the least amount of electrical noise of any motor currently available. The stage can be mounted in a horizontal or vertical position and for easy integration tapped and clearance holes are provided in the base.

The task of this customer-specific OEM development was to create a travel path of 150 mm in 250 mm installation space, in which the load is wider than long. The available installation space had to be completely filled with an aluminum base body in order to achieve the necessary rigidity.

The ball screw was integrated between the base body and the moving carriage plate. It was also moved downwards via a pair of synchronized pulleys with synchronous belts. The transmission error of this additional transmission element could be minimized by optimally adjusting the pre-stress, thereby resulting in only a slight increase in repeatability errors. A compromise also had to be reached on the guiding system with regard to the guiding relationship. The lateral distance between the carriages had to be greater than the distance between the carriages in the direction of travel. Less stringent requirements for straightness made that acceptable.
