Motion Control – Parallelogram Voice Coil Positioning Stage Is a Complete Positioning System!

Sunnyvale, CA, – — Motion Control Positioning Stage – The PVS-5.5 Parallelogram Voice Coil Stage from Equipment Solutions is a complete, compact high performance positioning system. This compact stage (37mm x 31 mm x 32 mm) weighing just 70 grams features a 5 mm clear aperture through the center of the motor and the friction free, flexure linking system. Non-linearity is <±0.5% throughout the stages 5 mm range of motion. PVS-5.5 Parallelogram Voice Coil Stage is ideal for optical focusing and micropositioning applications such as: Semiconductor, medical, optical testing, scanning microscopy, circuit board assembly, and micro manufacturing.

The PVS-5.5 Parallelogram Voice Coil Stage features a high force, frictionless voice coil motor and infinite life flexure system that provides superior responsiveness and accuracy (positioning resolution 75 nm) over conventional lead screw or belt drives and produces the least amount of electrical noise of any motor currently available. The stage can be mounted in a horizontal or vertical position and for easy integration tapped and clearance holes are provided in the base.An integral sub-micron linear displacement sensor with high bandwidth and low noise for high responsiveness and precise movements featuring frictionless optical technology completes this positioning system. This cleanroom compatible positioning system is low cost and uses ±12 V to ±24 V @ 1 A. The PVS-5.5 Parallelogram Voice Coil Stage is available with the Equipment Solutions, Inc. SCA814 Servo Controlled Amplifier, and to aid integration into a new or existing application CAD drawings are available on the Equipment Solutions, Inc, Website at http://www.equipsolutions.com.

Maxon Logo

Fall River, MA -Motion Control – Maxon Precision Motors introduces right angle gearheads designed to be configured with maxon’s 22mm and 32mm dc motors. These compact, lightweight and high torque gearheads were developed to transmit power at 90deg in the smallest possible form factor. The Spiroid® technology incorporated in the gearhead design offers a number of performance benefits:

  • Extremely high torque transmission
  • High stiffness / Low deflection with large applied loads
  • Back-drivable (4:1 ratio) & Non-back drivable (31:1 ratio) versions
  • Compact size
  • Low backlash
  • Up to 3:1 “gear teeth” contact ratio
  • Quiet operation
  • High Torque to Space Ratio (HTSR) technology

The 22mm and 32mm right angle gearheads are available in either a 4:1 or 31:1 ratio, which may be mounted directly onto many of maxon’s brushed/brushless motors OR configured with different ratios of maxon’s GP22 and GP32 planetary gearheads. This results in a wide range of achievable gear reductions. The motor and gearhead combinations are ideally suited for a variety of applications particularly where an output shaft perpendicular to the motor axis is desired.

Maxon’s Heavy Duty Motion Control Drive Solution for Extremely Harsh Operating Conditions!

Fall River, MA –Maxon Motor launches its motion control EC22 HD (Heavy Duty) motor, a 22mm-diameter brushless motor that outperforms any other commercial electric drive on shock, vibration and temperature tolerances. This motor was developed for the exceptionally high requirements in deep drilling technology and resists the most extreme operating conditions.

The electronically commutated EC22 HD (heavy duty) motor was developed in collaboration with the oil exploration industry and is designed to operate at depths of around 16,000 feet and in boreholes up to 36,000 feet long.

As part of the motor’s development program, a high-temperature test facility was built, and extensive field trials were undertaken. The motor operated at temperatures up to 240°C and under atmospheric pressure conditions from high vacuum to 25,000 psi. It has also been proven to resist impulse and impact forces of 100G. It can operate while submerged in oil, trebling its 80W output rating to 240W because of the improved heat dissipation.

Although developed to perform critical downhole actuation functions, maxon believes the new motor will also appeal to other industries where reliability is essential. The motor’s efficiency of 88% in air (and above 70% in oil) makes it particularly suitable for battery-powered applications
