The mid-level, general-purpose 1S Series Servos incorporate valuable input from our customers to optimize use from design to commissioning.

Lower Costs and Total Cost of Ownership
The 1S Series eliminates up to 20% of hidden servo system costs to the customer by no longer requiring separate external parts such as servodrive controller cable, terminal block for I/O, safety cable, brake relay and absolute encoder battery and cable.  Regardless of power rating, all 1S power drives have a uniform height to simplify design and improve control cabinet air circulation. We streamlined I/O connection, replacing an external terminal and cable with a pluggable connector with push-in terminals that allows wiring to be prepared separately. In the process, we increased the number and mix of supported I/O.  The end user benefits from lower maintenance costs.

Advances for High Accuracy Machines
The 1S servomotors use a gear-less/battery-less, multi-turn 23-bit absolute encoder, 16-bit multi-turn to provide accurate position input. Advanced tuning functions help shorten settling time, allowing faster production speeds and greater throughput.
Expanded Built-in Safety Capability

Machine safety for rotating hazards takes a prominent position in equipment design since the recent changes in injury liability. To help OEMs simplify safety system design and standardize on one series without stocking many separate drives, the 1S Series servodrives offer both networked and hardwired safe torque off built in. Configuration of FailSafe over EtherCAT (FSoE) only requires connecting NX Series safety control units to 1S Series servos  via open network “EtherCAT”. No wiring is required for the emergency stop of each axis for servo.

Motion Control – Miniature DC Servo Motor Controller, The ESCON 50/5 OEM Module!

Motion Control – Maxon Precision Motor’s newly released DC servo motor controller, the ESCON 50/5 OEM module. This mini OEM plug in module is a 4 quadrant Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) servo motor controller that can efficiently control permanent magnet brushed DC motors (PMDC motors) and Brushless DC servo motors (BLDC motors) containing hall effect sensors, with power levels up to 250 watts.

Fall River, MA — The OEM module features exceptional motor control properties and also contains very fast digital current control bandwidth capabilities enabling peak DC motor current (and therefore torque) control. Speed control of DC motors is devoid from drift whilst remaining dynamic. The DC motor speed can be controlled from 0 rpm up to 150,000 rpm. A completely configurable broad range of functions can be set to operate form the onboard analogue and digital inputs.

The DC motor speed can be set for open or closed loop with preset current/torque levels or the motor torque and direction can be set with analogue inputs. The inputs can be scaled and midpoints independently set with the “Easy to use Servo Controllers” PC Graphical User Interface (GUI) allowing fast implementation integrated into difficult motor control applications. Detailed design guides are supplied allowing easy integration onto the main equipment PCB. There is also an evaluation board for easy initial test and measurement.

This DC servo motor controller can also be used with an external potentiometer or the integrated on board potentiometer. For applications with existing PWM signals available this can also be used as a set value input. Full 4 quadrant control can be achieved with brushless motors using only hall sensors. A DC tacho or encoder can be optionally used with the DC motor for tighter feedback loops and digital inputs can be switched for activation in a particular motor direction of rotation.

Protection features are inbuilt on the motor controller against overcurrent, overtemp, undervoltage and overvoltage. Transients and short-circuits on the motor are also covered. The maximum allowable motor currents can be configured easily on the USB connection with the PC GUI.

When combined together, the maxon DCX, GPX and ENX form a high-precision, robust drive system ideal for any application from aerospace to medical to robotics. In fact anywhere that requires a compact, powerful, quiet and strong drive system. With just a few clicks of the mouse, it is possible to configure a powerful DCX drive with reliable and a fast delivery. In addition, detailed product data may be viewed immediately online and 3D CAD data for the configuration is available for downloading.

The small sized electronic motor controller has a 98% efficiency and can be used on common 12V, 24V and 48V DC systems making it suitable for process control, robotic and manufacturing equipment applications.

MOTION CONTROL BRUSHLESS SERVO AMPLIFIERS FEATURE ON-THE-FLY TORQUE GAIN CONTROL, SMOOTH SINUSOIDAL AND TRAPEZOIDAL COMMUTATION!

San Luis Obispo, CA – New, easy to integrate, motion control, linear, three-phase, servo amplifiers for small and medium size brushless motors from Trust Automation, Inc. are ideal for applications requiring smooth motion such as: Optical positioning, laboratory test equipment, linear motion systems, wafer handling, and metrology tools. The TA305 and TA310 brushless servo amplifiers have been optimized for smooth sinusoidal output. Additionally, the trapezoidal output has been smoothed to minimize cogging, and Hall transition-caused overshoots are minimized providing a smoother, sinusoidal-like drive mode.

Incorporated into the TA305 and TA310 amplifiers is Dynamic Transconductance Selection (DTS) which has been pioneered by Trust Automation. DTS enables on-the-fly changes to the torque gain for high resolution without sacrificing power capability. This is especially important in frictionless air bearing stages (e.g. metrology tables) where high current is required for startup and change of direction, yet high-resolution control is required over the length of travel.

The, very low electrical noise, TA305 50 Watt continuous (100 Watt peak) and the TA 310 200 Watt continuous (400 Watt peak) amplifiers operate with a 15 to 52 Volt supply and can operate in a voltage (velocity) mode or current (torque) mode which are switch selectable. They are fault protected from over-current and over-temperature and have integral forced air cooling. Low in cost, the TA305 amplifier is 5.5 in. (140 mm) x 2.2 in. (61 mm) x 2.1 in. (53 mm) and the T310 amplifier is 9.0 in. (229 mm) x 2.7 in. (69 mm) x 3.0 in. (76 mm).
