E. Longmeadow, MA –Motion Control – LM76 has developed the most corrosion resistant linear bearing available. In space, deep under the sea, or in the harshest environments, when there can be no “Plan B,” Pegasus Series 1 Linear Ball Bearings can be counted on to perform. In some applications linear bearings will not move for days, weeks, months or even years, however, when called on to perform they must work as if they just came out of the box. LM76’s Pegasus Series 1 Linear Bearings feature Silicon Nitride (SiNi) Ceramic Balls in a shell with retainer and end caps all made from 440 Stainless Steel and then ArmorloyTM coated.

Motion Control Bearing/Pillow Block for Radioactive Environments

E. Longmeadow, MA Motion — Control Components – Linear Motion – LM76 now offers one piece ETX Linear Bearing/Pillow Blocks that will not degrade in a radioactive environment! Machined from a solid block of self lubricating ETX, linear bearing-blocks have high strength, excellent wear resistance, low coefficient of friction, and excellent dimensional stability at higher temperatures as there is no other materials such as PTFE seals or lubricants these bearing-blocks are maintenance free.

E. Longmeadow, MA – — Motion Control – Application Story – When an aftermarket manufacturer of off-road steering and suspension systems needed an upper ball joint bearing, they called LM76. These systems are purchased by off-road vehicle owners who want to upgrade their OEM steering and suspension units for hard-hitting environments. Pounding, shock, sand and debris are all part of the mix when it comes to extreme off-roading and LM76 Black Racer bearings are right at home. According to company engineers, after a year of brutal testing, Black Racer met all design goals and exceeded expectations.

Motion Control -What To Consider When Specifying A Linear Slide

Motion Control – Tutorial

Considerations when specifying a linear slide for a new or existing application.

By Mike Quinn • LM76

When a design engineer has fully defined a linear-motion application’s requirements regarding travel length, speed, force, and accuracy as well as repeatability, the next question to answer is this:

Does an off-the-shelf linear slide (or a stock linear slide from a catalog) fully satisfy the application?

motion control - lm76

Off-the-shelf linear slides are advantageous for their quick delivery and lower cost than that of custom components. No wonder most linear-motion designs do in fact employ off-the-shelf linear slides from various component and system suppliers.

They are also caustic wash down inert. FluidLine bearings one piece construction has benefits over traditional Teflon Composite lined aluminum bearings: if you have a wear situation, Teflon Composite Bearings have a .035″ Teflon Composite Liner. Once you wear through the liner, you are into the aluminum shell.

E. Longmeadow, MA — Motion Control Components – Linear Motion – Food processing and beverage plants’ wash down areas are unique environments that undergo harsh treatment from high pressure washers, steam, and a multitude of caustic chemicals used in the cleaning and sanitizing production equipment. OEMs and maintenance departments need to select components that will not trap contaminating debris and can be thoroughly evacuated following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). SSOPs are detailed schedules and procedures specifying what to clean, how to clean, how often to clean, and the record keeping used for monitoring.

A helpful component selection guide from LM76, “Linear Bearings, 6 Simple Steps – FDA Compliance, Wash Down Compliance,” details the linear motion components available from LM76 that are FDA/UDSA/3A-Dairy compliant. Included are: Foodstream electrodeless nickel plated pillow blocks, PTFE lined stainless steel bearings, ceramic coated linear bearings, self-aligning corrosion resistant linear ball bearings, and Thomson® Super SmartTM corrosion resistant, self-aligning, high load linear ball bearings. Shafting to compliment the type of bearing selected includes: Class L Stainless 303/304/316, 440C case hardened stainless, Rc 60 case hardened steel with an Armoloy coating and also Rc78 Class L for enhanced hardness and wear resistance. End blocks and shaft supports that have a ceramic or electrodeless nickel coating are also available, as well as new ETX Scraper Seals that prevents intrusion of contaminates adding another line of defense.

LM76 also designs and custom builds linear slides from Stainless Steel and other FDA wash down compliant materials

Shafting options include: Solid and hollow Class L RC60, 300 series stainless steel in lengths to 12 feet. FDA/USDA/3A-Dairy compliant, shafting features: Excellent corrosion and chemical resistance, custom machining to print, pre-drilling and assembly.

Motion Control – LM76 – Low Cost, FDA/USDA/3A-Dairy Compliant Water Dog Linear Slides!

Low Cost, FDA/USDA/3A-Dairy Compliant Water Dog Linear Slides!

Linear Motion Control Components - LM76 Water Dog Sliders!

LM76

E. Longmeadow, MA — Motion Control Components – Linear Motion – FDA/USDA/3A-Dairy compliant, Water Dog Sliders from LM76 feature Corro-SlickTM coated 300 series stainless steel rails and contoured WDX Polymer blocks. Water Dog Sliders can be washed down with the most aggressive chemicals and caustic foaming agents and have an operating temperature range of – 400O to +180 OF. Quiet, low maintenance Water Dog Sliders can be used: Dry, submerged in liquids, and in refrigerated and frozen environments

The hard Rc78 Corro-SlickTM coating applied to the 300 series stainless steel rails is exceptionally corrosion and wear resistant. The coating under a microscope appears as small extremely hard spheres which results in a reduction in the coefficient of friction. The Corro-SlickTM coating which becomes an integral part of the rail is not subject to cracking or micro-fractures with deflection of the rails.

Widely used in packaging, food processing, pharmaceutical, bio-pharma, bottling, medical, and dairy industries the smooth WDX Polymer as used in Water Dog Sliders has a very low coefficient of friction, does not absorb fluids, is self lubricating, is FDA/Caustic Wash Down compliant, and prevents debris from adhere to it’s surfaces.

Linear Motion Control Components - Water Dog Sliders from LM76!

Water Dog sliders are available in two sizes. WD1 rail and block assemblies measures just 1.02 inches x 1.00 inches high. Standard off-the-shelf rail lengths are 12, 24, 36 and 48 in., and standard stock lengths of 157 in. are available. The WD1 blocks are 1.00 in. wide x 0.75 in. high x 4.00 in. long with two Stainless Steel anchors threaded for 1/4-20 screws. Rails are drilled on 3.15 inch centers for easy integration into a processing system and are designed for side loads up to 179 lbs and vertical compression loads of 89 lbs.

WD2 rail and block assemblies measures just 1.57 in. x 1.125 in. high. Standard off-the-shelf rail lengths are 12, 24, 36 and 48 in., and custom length to 122 in. are available. The WD2 blocks are 1.50 in. wide x 1.00 in. high x 5.250 in. long with four Stainless Steel anchors threaded for 1/4-20 screws. Rails are drilled on 3.15 inch centers and are designed for side loads up to 258 lbs and vertical down loads of 178 lbs.

FDA Compliant – “Water Dog” Sliders, Underwater Linear Guides

Linear Motion - WaterDog-Slides from LM76

E. Longmeadow, MA – Water Dog Sliders are UHMW blocks operating in 303 Stainless Rails. Although water is a poor lubricant, it makes Water Dogs very slick. Water Dog Sliders linear motion guides are FDA Compliant, they do not absorb liquids ( they do not grow ) and they have great abrasion resistance.Water Dogs are by no means precision linear slides. They are simple sliders for water applications where moderate loads and speeds are present.
