The 60A continuous current rating means the servo drive can operate at the 60A peak rating continuously with no need for current foldback.  This feat is impressive because the new model is in the same package size as our “micro-sized” FlexPro models meaning up to four units can fit within the footprint of a business card.

The unit mounts directly on to a NEMA C-Face servo or stepper motor and the output can also be coupled to a NEMA C-Face gear reducer. This brake is designed to decelerate or hold an inertial load when the voltage is turned off. When voltage is applied, the friction disc is released and the brake is free of torque. This power-off brake is best suited for parking brake applications used to hold a load in position, and is ideal for creating brake motor packages for small servo & stepper frame motors.

The AU200-15×15-01 Motorized Stage (pictured) and the AU200-15×15-04 Motorized Stage are powered by Two-Phase Stepper Motors and have high 0.25 micron resolution and high 1.5 micron repeatability.

As technology continues its shift from analog to digital, there is still strong demand for analog designs. The reason? Analog drives provide some attractive benefits:

  • Simplicity – It’s easy to train your people to set the correct switch and potentiometer settings.

  • Performance – When tuned to maximum performance, analog current loops can often times achieve higher bandwidth and faster response than digital current loops.

How can analog outperform digital? It all comes down to the components. In a digital system, A/D conversions and processing time can add delays ranging from 20 to 100 microseconds. This may not seem like a lot, but in the highest bandwidth systems delays of this magnitude create a sizeable phase lag.

The other driving factor is cost. Large volumes and mature designs make prices attractive for everyone (except our competitors)
