Motion Control – Miniaturized Controller

motion control micro controller

Maxon Logo

Taunton, MA — Motion Control Products – Maxon is launching a new, miniaturized controller with a size of only 32 mm x 22 mm as part of its successful line of positioning controllers. The attractive price-performance ratio, with a functionality that’s virtually identical to the larger units, addresses cost-sensitive single- and multi-axis applications.

The functionality, operation, software, and accessories of the new controller are derived almost directly from the existing products in the EPOS4 range. The device is suitable for use with both brushed DC and brushless EC motors (BLDC) of up to 120 W and has comprehensive feedback options such as Hall sensors, as well as digital incremental and SSI absolute encoders. State-of-the art concepts such as Dual Loop, Field Oriented Control (FOC), feed forward, and observer control allow optimal control in a wide variety of applications.

The existing digital and analog inputs and outputs are freely configurable and ideally matched to the numerous functions and operating modes of the CiA-402 positioning controller. The intuitive EPOS Studio start-up software, as well as libraries and programming examples for integration in a wide variety of master systems, are available free of charge and make operation as easy as possible. A plug-and-play EvaluationBoard (EB) is provided for initial commissioning. The offer is rounded out by a comprehensive scope of accessories and detailed product documentation.

The first derivative of this new micro design is the CANopen version, which can also be addressed via RS232 or USB, as usual. In spring 2020, the EPOS4 Micro 24/5 EtherCAT will follow as a second product of similarly small size.

Visit epos.maxongroup.us for the latest updates about EPOS and individual devices, EPOS Studio, as well as all downloads and technical documentation.

New Panel Mount Brush Servo Drives for Centralized Motion Control Systems!

Motion Control – Servo Drive
Motion Control Servo Drive

Motion Control - Servo2Go

Greenville, DE -Motion Control Components – The AxCent™ (Axes for Centralized control schemes) product platform brings the proven and powerful performance expected of ADVANCED Motion Controls, with improvements to the design architecture that utilize years of experience in the industry and the latest advancements in modern servo system design.

As technology continues its shift from analog to digital, there is still strong demand for analog designs. The reason? Analog drives provide some attractive benefits:

  • Simplicity – It’s easy to train your people to set the correct switch and potentiometer settings.
  • Proven Track Record – AMC have been building analog drives since their inception. They have continuously improved their designs to mirror the advances in component technology.
  • Performance – When tuned to maximum performance, analog current loops can often times achieve higher bandwidth and faster response than digital current loops.

How can analog outperform digital? It all comes down to the components. In a digital system, A/D conversions and processing time can add delays ranging from 20 to 100 microseconds. This may not seem like a lot, but in the highest bandwidth systems delays of this magnitude create a sizeable phase lag.

The other driving factor is cost. Large volumes and mature designs make prices attractive for everyone (except our competitors)

MIT EMERGENCY VENTILATOR (E-VENT) PROJECT COPY

MIT has launched an emergency research project with a team of Engineers and American clinicians to address the question:

Is it possible to safely ventilate a COVID-19 patient by automatically actuating a manual resuscitator?

Their process in approaching this question is to first identify the minimum requirements for a low-cost ventilator, based on the collective wisdom of many clinicians, design against these requirements, conduct immediate testing, report the results, iterate and facilitate discussion.

motion control digital servo amplifier

Motion Control Servo2Go-Logo

Motion Control Components – Servo2Go.com announces the release of the DZRALTE Series of High Performance Digital Servo Drives from Advanced Motion Controls of Camarillo, CA, which are engineered to conquer the most demanding industrial applications!

The DZRALTE Series are motion control digital servo drives that control brushed & brushless servomotors in a compact form factor which make them ideal for embedded applications. These fully digital drives operate in torque, velocity, or position mode and employ Space Vector Modulation (SVM) which results in higher bus voltage utilization and reduced heat dissipation compared to traditional PWM drives. The command source can be generated internally or can be supplied externally. In addition to motor control, these drives feature dedicated and programmable digital and analog inputs and outputs to enhance interfacing with external controllers and devices.

The DZRALTE Series feature a RS-232 interface for drive configuration and setup as well as a RS-485 interface for drive networking. All drive and motor parameters are stored in non-volatile memory. Drive commissioning is accomplished using AMC’s powerful & user friendly free DriveWare software.

The combination of a DigiFlex® Performance™ DZRALTE servo drive with its DriveWare software establishes a new benchmark in versatility!

Motion Control Capabilities built into the DZRALTE servo drives include:

  • Size Ranges: 10-175 VDC @ 6A to 30A continuous (60A peak) Output
